Oats, warm and cosy on a winters morning, and also a powerful food for skincare, especially for those of you who have oily skin. The antioxidant properties in oats help to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, cleaning pores and soaking up excess oil and dirt.
Rose petals are a natural astringent with antibacterial properties so it softens and strengthens the skin while also fighting bacteria that cause you to break out. Rose can refine your pores to improve the overall appearance of skin while soothing. It’s especially great for dry skin due to its extremely moisturizing properties that soothe itchiness.
Yogurt aids in shrinking the appearance of pores by gently exfoliating and balancing overall skin complexion. Just ensure that you use plain organic yogurt (with no added sugars) for its beneficial probiotic properties.
How to make an exfoliating rose and oats face mask:
- 2tbs of Oats
- 1tbs Rose Petals (I got mine HERE)
- 1tbs Plain Organic Yogurt (or almond milk for a vegan alternative)
Add rose petals and oats into a blender and mix until they are a super fine, in a bowl and add plain greek yogurt (or milk) with your oats and rose petals until the mixture is smooth enough for your skin. Apply a layer of the mask to your face using your fingertips and gently massage the oats to exfoliate any dead skin cells away. Leave the mask on for approx 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Follow with your favourite face oil or moisturizer.
You can use this mask up to three times a week, it should be mixed together just before use and any remaining product should be discarded afterwards. As with all products, I advise doing a patch test before use.
