Pure Vitamin C Powder

1 review

Our Vitamin C is a highly popular anti-oxidant and is a required component in the production of collagen, the tissue responsible for skin suppleness (hello, firmer skin!). Vitamin C has also been shown to help slow the production of age spots, fade signs of sun damage, and post-acne marks.

Have you ever used a vitamin C serum and the colour or scent has changed over time? Then there's a good chance that oxidation (deterioration as a result of being exposed to air or water) is to blame. The good news? That annoyance won't happen with a dry formula like Green + Bare’s pure Vitamin C Powder, which you can mix into your toner or moisturizer for an instant ascorbic acid boost!

100% Pure L-ascorbic acid crystalline powder.

Option One: Mix a bit of the Vitamin C acid powder with your favorite evening serum or moisturizer (needs to be water-based). Simply apply as normal and let the skin-brightening acid go to work on smoothing skin and improving its overall complexion. I’d suggest starting out with a small pinch (like the size of a rice grain) and work your way up to a larger pinch as desired.

Option Two: Mix a pinch of the Vitamin C powder with one of our floral waters until it’s fully dissolved. Then using your fingertips, gently pat the liquid into your skin, massaging in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Leave the vitamin on overnight.

To see results from Vitamin C on your skin, use once a day during your nightly skincare routine. You’ll start noticing improvements to the tone and texture of your skin within 2 weeks or so.

Option Three: Use 2 teaspoons of floral water and a quarter teaspoon of Pure Vitamin C Powder, plus an optional quarter teaspoon vegetable glycerin (for additional hydration).

Add the acid to the floral water and stir until dissolved (use a wooden spatula for mixing, don’t use any metal spoons). Add your glycerin and stir gently. Pour your serum into a clean amber bottle with lid.

Place a couple of drops of serum into your palms, rub gently and press into your skin. Discard if the colour changes to brown (this will indicate that ascorbic acid has oxidized). I make small batches in order to avoid the need for a preservative, but if you want to store for longer and prevent oxidation then simply add a natural preservative.

Vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid is a highly popular, naturally occurring, gold standard ingredient for skincare. It’s a required component in boosting the production of collagen, the tissue that’s responsible for skin suppleness. It brightens the skin’s appearance, helps decrease signs of aging, pigmentation, sun damage, and dullness.

  • Encourages your skin’s natural healing processes
  • Reduces swelling and irritation with anti-inflammatory properties
  • Helps to clarify, brighten and even the skin’s complexion
  • Works to provide protection against damage from free radicals and UV rays
  • Improves overall skin texture and may help reduce the appearance of pores
  • Promotes collagen and elastin production to firm skin
  • Brightens dark spots and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles
  • Helps rejuvenate your skin for a healthy, radiant glow

Because this is a highly active ingredient, there are some precautions to be aware of (because irritation is so not cool).

Application: After application, you may feel a slight tingle, this is normal and should calm down within a few minutes. Avoid the eye area and broken skin, don’t use it while the skin is being exposed to the sun. Application is best in the PM, and less is more, overuse can cause redness and peeling. Ensure you wash your hands after application as it can oxidize on your hands and clothes causing them to turn orang-ey/brown (think fake tan).

Mixing: Add a pinch to demineralized water, hydrating toners, serums, moisturiser, or a clay face mask for single use. Because it’s water-based it dissolves well with anything containing water. Do not mix with any other product that contains niacinamide or EUK 134. Avoid mixing Vitamin C with any SPF based products or retinol products, as this may dilute their efficacy.

Storage and Shelf Life: Make sure to store your powder in a dark and dry place to avoid premature oxidization. Our powder comes in an amber glass jar so you’ll get the longest shelf life possible and all benefits (yuss!). When not in use keep tightly closed.

For external use only. Avoid use if you have hypersensitive skin. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children.

Can now get away without wearing makeup!

I have been using a pinch of the Green and Bare Vitamin C powder every night with my night cream and for the last 3 weeks and my skin is so much brighter. I have even gone out without makeup as my skin looks so good! I would highly recommend.
